Yeshua And A Chicken Hen

intheredletters | October 22, 2009 02:09

I witnessed something most fascinating about two weeks ago.  I planned on sharing it that day but didn’t make the time for it.

Before I share the story I want to apologize to everyone for my slackness the last 5-6 weeks.  Half the time I was just very busy trying to get things done before the cold temperature sets in, and the other half, well, no excuse really.  I apologize.  For those of you who kept on me to get some updates out, todah.  The encouragement was very encouraging.   Back to the story…

My wife loves chickens.  Both decorative chickens in the house, and live chickens which we raise outside.  We have seven different breeds, totaling around forty or so hens and three roosters.  I too have grown to like chickens.  I especially love the sound they all make when we give them scratch grains in the evening.  It’s such a happy sound.  So, we have one hen which stays by herself.  She is a little red bantam hen.  Whenever we put her with any other hens they all beat up on her (reminds me when I got saved, until Yeshua baptized me, then all that changed of course).  She is very docile, lets us pet her occasionally even.  She’s never been a mom.  She will lay on her eggs for weeks, but seeing as there is no rooster the eggs are infertile, but she sits on them anyway.  Amy, being the sweetie she is, felt sorry for “Little Red” and decided to take two eggs from one of our other hens and place them under Red.  Well Little Red hatched them, and what a happy hen she became.

A couple of weeks ago the temperature was forecasted to drop well below freezing at night for several nights.  We put her and the two chicks in a wooden box (made just for baby chicks) with a heat lamp in our garage.  One of the other breeds of chicken had three chicks within a week and Amy thought Red would be a better mom (we’ve had a couple trampled with the large hens).  I was concerned whether Red would accept them with her own since she had been mothering the two for a week or so.  But they’re Amy’s chickens, so we caught the others one night to put her plan to the test.

We carried them to the garage and placed one of them in the box at the entrance of the cat kennel (cat not included) where Red was sleeping with her two babies, about a foot from Red.  The little baby chick, which was already in shock, just stood there crying.  Then the most amazing thing happened.  Red called out and the little one immediately  turned and ran under her wings.  The process repeated with the other two.  They cried for a minute or two and then Red started to purr.  Purr?  I didn’t know chickens could purr.  I’ve never heard one do that before.  It was such a peaceful sound.  Not only did the babies quiet down and go to sleep but it made me feel calm.  Instantly I thought of what Papa’s Word says in Ruth 2:12.  Yahweh (The LORD) recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of Yahweh Elohe Yisra’el (the LORD God of Israel), under whose wings thou art come to trust. Under whose wings I’ve come to trust.  I cannot recall how many times Yahweh has spoke to me in His beautiful still small voice and provided me a joyful calmness, safely under His wings.

Do you recall what Yeshua said when He looked out over Yerushalayim?

O Yerushalayim, Yerushalayim, thou that killest the Nevi’im (prophets), and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!  For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Baruch ha ba B’shem Yahweh (Blessed is he that cometh in the name of YHVH-the Lord). Mattathias (Matt) 23:37,39

But wait…there’s more.

The next day I heard another new sound from Red.  I went in to check on them and as soon as they saw me they split into hiding inside of the kennel.  Not Red though, she knew it was time for scratch.  She sat there making her usual “thank you please hurry with the good stuff” noise as I place a board in there and put scratched in a pile for her.  Then came the new sound from Red.  Immediately the brood came running out of hiding, ignoring me, and began to peck at the scratch.  They ignored their fear of what they saw with their “natural” eyes and trusted in the one who nurtures them and in whom they trust.  How often do we experience fear and discouragement due to what we see with our “natural” eyes, and by what we feel?  Yet Yahweh (the LORD) draws us to Himself, with His gentle still small voice (1KGS19:12).  He knows that Yeshua is our Shepherd, and Yeshua’s sheep know His voice (Yochanan-John 10:27).  He doesn’t want us to fear. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba (Daddy), Father. (Rom 8:15)

If you know Yeshua, you know how nurturing a Daddy Yahweh is.  Rest your head on Daddy’s chest and be at peace.  Your Daddy’s got you, safely in His arms.  He’s Daddy.  If you’re a loving daddy then you know the love, gentleness and masculine protection you feel over your child, especially when they are in your arms resting their head on your chest.  You would protect them from anything, at any cost.  And if you had a daddy like that yourself, at some time, do you recall the peace and safety you felt when your daddy held you safely in his arms?  You could hear his heart beat while your head lay on his chest.  There’s nothing better when you were frightened.

I remember as a boy saying “my daddy can beat up your daddy.”  Although that was generally true, seeing that my father at 60+ before his passing, was still quite a bit larger than I, even when I was the one who worked out six days a week.  But Big Daddy – Yahweh!  The one who has ALL AUTHORITY.  El Shaddai (Almighty God).  Elyon (Most High God).  El Hay (Living God).  He has power over everything.  EVERYTHING!  What do we have to fear when we are being held in Abba’s arms?                         N-0-T-H-I-N-G!  And with Yeshua as our Great Shepherd, leading us to Living Water and The Bread of Life - Him.  Why should what we see concern us?   Look with your real eyes, your spiritual eyes.  Our Daddy is bigger than the worlds daddy.  He’s got you safely in His arms.  Rest in Him, eat of the table of Adonai (Lord/Master).  Rest I say, in Him.

Can you hear Him saying the same to you?  Inviting you to know His Shalom, His Peace.  Rest your head on Daddy’s chest, He’s got you covered.

Safely under His Wings

Genesis 1:14

intheredletters | September 18, 2009 13:40

Interesting. What does it mean? Don't know, but since Yom Teruah (Day of Trumpets) starts tonight and ends Sunday, and so far Elohim has followed His Feast, I thought this was interesting. Could mean something, could just be a "coincidence." Praise Him either way.Gen 1:14 And Elohim (God) said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for 'owth (signs-warning, token, proof), and for Mow'ed (seasons-appointed times, feast), and for days, and years:Revelation 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. 15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. 16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.Click on Sickle of Leo

What's In A Name?

intheredletters | September 17, 2009 13:22

What Is In A Name?
Names were extremely significant in Biblical Times. Yahweh (the Name above in Hebrew - Self Existent Eternal One) frequently used people’s names to reveal aspects of their character, their background, and even their destiny.
Elohim (God - Great Mighty Supreme God) changed Abram’s name (exalted father) to Abraham (father of a multitude), pointing to what he would become, the father of many nations. Gen 17:4-5  He also changed Sarai’s name (contentious) to Sara (princess of nobility) Gen 17:15 Abraham and Sara’s first born son was named Isaac, meaning “he laughs” because Abraham and Sara both laughed when Yahweh (the LORD) told them Sara would bear them a son in her old age. Gen 17:27; 18:11-15

Can you guess who has more names than anyone in Scripture? Yeshua of Nazareth! The Scriptures reveal no less than 103 different names describing the character, destiny and background of The Son of Yahweh. He is our Advocate (1Jno 2:1), the Shaddai (Almighty-Rev 1:8), Alef and Tav (Alpha and Omega-Rev 22:13), the Amein (Rev 3:14), Apostle and High Priest (Heb 3:1), the Arm of Yahweh (Isa 51:9), Author and Finisher of our faith (Heb 12:2), and the Author of Eternal Salvation (Heb 5:9). He is Adonai Yeshua Hamashiach, The Lord Jesus Christ (Act 16:31). When the apostle Paul vehemently declared his “Name which is above every name” (Phil 2:9), he was equating Yeshua (He who saves) with Yahweh (the LORD-Self Existent Eternal One).

Let’s look at some names, from the generations of Adam, and see the Gospel Message.

NAME (Hebrew/English Strongs’ Number and Definition MEANING

Haadman (Adam) 0121 The first man, 0120 Ruddy; human, 0119 To show blood (red) Man

Composite Message; “Man (is) appointed (a) mortal habitation, (but) the Blessed Elohim (God) shall come down teaching (that) His death shall bring the captives comfort.”

Thus we have the message of Redemption. When we link the names of these ten pre-Flood patriarchs together, they form the following sentence: “Man is appointed a mortal habitation, but the Blessed Elohim (God) shall come down teaching that His death shall bring the captives comfort.”

That’s the Gospel. The wonderful message. How remarkable that Elohim (God) provided an outline of His plan of redemption through the names of the patriarchs, 4,000 years before the birth of Messiah.

Making Disciples out of Chrisitians

intheredletters | September 17, 2009 13:19

Special treat;  this is a book report written by my 15 year old daughter.  I was som impressed I thought I'd share it with you all.  Enjoy.

Making disciples out of Christians

Book Report By: Sara Todd

While reading the book Disciples are made not born, I was a little shocked. It was not at all what I was expecting. I thought it would simply talk about the disciple’s lives and God making us into the disciples that He has called us to be. I never expected to find what I did find, and it was quite the surprise. The main point of this book is to show the reader how to become a disciple, and that you must start this growing process, it is not something that God starts in you because you have become a Christian, it is something which we must choose. To either lay down everything we are, everything we have, and everything that we will be, and surrender it to Jesus, or to just be the typical Christian who takes absolutely no action what so ever. And not only are we suppose to be disciples ourselves, but we are to also try and make other disciples.

The book starts off in Chapter one with ten key things that make up a disciple.

The main points of these ten keys, are to give absolutely all control over your life to the Father, love God with all of your heart, be willing to let God use you in ways that you probably think are pretty crazy, and last but not least be able to discipline your own life. If we are suppose to make other disciples, but our own lives don’t show our self discipline, we are bound for failure.

We must always remember that in order to be a disciple God must come first.

Recruiting a disciple is not at all about bringing more people into “the club.” We must have good and pure intentions when it comes to making a disciple. We must have their eternal outcome in mind, so our job really is to help show them the way to Christ. We do not literally make disciples we lead people in the right direction and let God take over from there.

To live a life and be able to carry the title disciple is an amazing honor. We need to work hard for the kingdom in order to be a true and worthy disciple for the Lord. The word disciple in itself means one who embraces and assists in spreading the teachings of another. So we must embrace our job as God’s followers and assists in spreading the good news to all who we meet. And not only can we do that in the words we speak, but in our life’s actions as well, and the great thing about this is, no we can’t do it on our own, but Jesus promises to be right by our side the entire way.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Matthew 28:19-20

Take Responsibility

intheredletters | August 27, 2009 17:32

Why are we so unwilling to take responsibility for our actions? Why do we always blame someone else?  Unhappy husbands and wives blame their spouse for their unhappiness.  Parents blame children, children blame their parents for their problems, or their siblings.  I’m shocked when someone actually takes responsibility.  While I was a California Highway Patrol Officer I expected people to lie, about everything.  I didn’t start this way but after a year or so on the road I found lying was the norm.  I was so appreciative when someone would actually take responsibility I usually would let them go with a verbal warning, with exceptions of course.  I’d give warnings to people going twenty miles over the speed limit if they were honest and simply took responsibility. Please don’t assume that will work with all Troopers, I can tell you it won’t.  But you never know.

So why do we lie?  Especially those of us who claim Messiah as Savior.  Do not the Scriptures tell us, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to Elohim (God),” Romans 14:12.  And how do we “justify” our lying in light of Revelation 21:27 – And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketha lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.  As well as Revelation 22:14-15; Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

We get angered when others don’t do it.  Why not at ourselves?  Double standards.  We will never walk in the freedom and joy Messiah died for us to have if we are unwilling to take responsibility for our own actions.  We all need to grow up.  It is up to us to set the example by following Messiah’s example.  Do not follow the worlds example, they not going to enter into His gates.

Three Kings

intheredletters | August 19, 2009 00:29

A Kingdom is anyplace where the Kings authority is obeyed without question or hesitation.  Whose Kingdom are you serving in? Which of the three?

There are three kings.

1.  Satan; the lying deceiving destructive king.

2. Self; by far the weakest king (following this king is following the first king).

3. Yeshua (Jesus); Kings of Kings and Lord of Lords. Revelation 19:16

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:  That thou mayest love Yahweh thy Elohim (the LORD thy God), and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for He is thy life, and the length of thy days: Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Feel Like Dirt.

intheredletters | August 13, 2009 16:44

Ever feel like dirt? I do. Not surprising considering we're all made out of dirt. And Yahweh Elohim (the LORD God) formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.-Genesis 2:7 Besides, we are after all, dirty. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.-Romans 3:23 Oh but how AWESOME Yahweh Elohienu (the LORD our God) is! He tells us; Come now, and let us reason together, saith Yahweh (the LORD): though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Wool. That's white. Revelation 1:5-6 states-And from Yeshua Mashiach (Jesus Christ), who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amein.

So, if you feel like dirt, that's okay.  But if you feel dirty....go get washed.  After all, Yahweh is the only One who can make dirt clean.

Welcome to In The Red Letters

intheredletters | August 12, 2009 16:17

Welcome to In The Red Letters web site. In The Red Letters purpose is to encourage fellow followers of Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus) to take their relationship with Adonai Yeshua (the Lord Jesus) to a deeper, more intimate level.

The desire of the ministry of In The Red Letters is to assist, and encourage, those who follow Yeshua HaMashiach (Jesus the Messiah) to  build an intimate personal relationship with Yahweh Eloheynu (the LORD our God).  Yahweh has already made this possible for us in the sacrifice of His Passover Lamb, Yeshua (Jesus), we just need to embrace it.

For anyone wondering how we came up with the name, In The Red Letters, the answer is easily answered:  Most copies of Scripture have all the words of Yeshua (Jesus) in red.  Yeshua (Jesus) stated, "I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.  If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him, Yochanan (John) 14:6-7, therefore we really have the way to the truth and the life In the Red Letters.  The further we dive into Scripture, and the more time we spend in the presence of The Most High God (Elyon), the more we begin to realize that He is always talking to us.  My beloved (my wife Amy) knows this of Our Beloved (Yeshua), thus she suggested Red Letters.   We came up with In The Red Letters to point to the One who came to give us life and whose words are so vividly displayed in red, so In The Red Letters was created. Please join us in entering the red letters, as well as the entirety of Scripture, here at InTheRedLetters.com.
